Informing the Plan

This website is intended to support individuals and groups who have joined with others to work toward racial justice and equity. While there are many approaches to doing that work, one of the core assumptions is that this work is very likely to include deliberate efforts to change conditions and outcomes for various racial/ethnic groups, by changing existing power relationships, resource allocations, decision making processes and policies and practices of various institutions (government, schools, media, etc.) that influence how people fare. This section provides resources and tools to help gather and analyze the history, data, and information helpful in creating a plan. It may also be useful to review the Tip Sheet Considering Readiness at the start of a planning process. This Tip Sheet makes a case for and offers ideas about having diverse representation within planning groups, implementing an inclusive process and analyzing information through a lens that acknowledges structural racism.
